backup-compress-tape

hi ..
i have a tape 20/40 ..
with compress 40 gb .. as u know ...
My data is about 25 gb ..
 when i copy datas to the tape it ask me put next tape ...
what is the problem here ...
how can i compress to use 40gb fully
