Sue,
Thanks for the reply. That was the direction I was going in. The culprit
dll was OLEDB32.dll - the core services dll for OLEDB. For some reason the
date of the 2.71 version was later than the 2.8 version. There were also 3
other dll's that were mismatchted. An additional note; reinstalling mdac 2.8
does not fix the problem. You will have to manually change these dll's (not
forgetting to place them in the dllcache folder). I only replaced the
OLEDB32.dll as it was the only one causing problems - that we can see right
now. I'm listing my findings here for others to use if they encounter this
same problem:
Filename: OLEDB32.DLL
Old version/date: 2.71.9042.0 - 10/27/2003 built by Lab06_N(_sqlbld)
New version/date: 2.80.1022.0 - 2/20/2003
Filename: ODBCBCP.DLL
Old version/date: 2000.085.1025.00 - 12/12/2003 built by (_sqlbld)
New version/date: 2000.85.1022 - 2/20/2003
Filename: SQLSRV32.DLL
Old version/date: 2000.085.1025.00 - 11/18/2003 built by (_sqlbld)
New version/date: 2000.85.1022 - 2/20/2003
Filename: MSXML3.DLL
Old version/date: 8.50.2162.0 - 09/22/2004
New version/date: 8.40.9419.0- 7/17/2003
Regards,
Grant
