Yes. This is a permission issue. Since net view fails unless you put in a
valid
username/password, this indicates that you may be in a workgroup scenario
or
are denied access to this computer from the network.

Change your connection to use TCP .
Try this test with OSQL.

OSQL -Stcp:ServerNameHere -Usa -Ppassword here.
