Thanks Kevin. For me it's not a major issue because my SQL Servers are all running in mixed mode. However, I'm just curious because MS recommend running (for security reasons) in Windows Auth mode only. I agree with that for security reasons but I've hit numerous issues like this where using SQL authentication has helped me overcome the hurdle. The other one is the double hop issue when I use something like OPENDATASOURCE and I have to run it from the server rather than the client.
I'm just curious about what proportion of SQL servers are Windows Authentication mode only?
