I will expand my original question:
I am trying to convince our internal security standards body that the encryption of a password within the DTS is of a reasonable standard, however they have asked what the actual industry standard is used, i.e. 3DES , RC4 etc
I am not a security expert, as you may have gathered, however I need to win this little bureaucratic wrangle. I have already pointed out that someone would actually need to compromise the security of the server in the first place but this doesn't seem enough.
