Cannot install anything on server as SA?

Hello all!
I have a strange problem, we need to install a few pieces of software on our
SQL 2000 sp3 server but either of them will not take sa as a DB login to
create the DB's! If I install one software remotely, which is an option for
one, but not the other, it works fine, but if I physically try from the
server it will not install or login!

Any help would be appreciated!
