File based DSN's - Good or Bad ?

I am trying to secure my server as best as I can. Trouble is I have people
developing web apps for it and I need to give them passwords to link their
ODBC's to from their web server.

WHat would the impact be if rather than give them usernames and passwords, I
gave them a file based DSN to install on their web server. This way, perhaps
I wouldn't have to give them passwords. Is this a bad idea ? Is the file
based DSN less secure ?
