We're having exactly the same situation except our proc accepts TEXT. The passed parm is defined as TEXT in FE as well. The developer shrunk the passed value to 3 characters and it went through with no prob. Puzzled... For now I'm suspecting thats they did something with TDS buffer limitation in this MS03-031 security patch.
