Rob,
Did you apply MS03-031 patch ? There is a known MS03-031 regression --
"After you install MS03-031: Cumulative Security Patch for SQL Server,
when you make changes to a standard SQL Server login by using Enterprise
Manager, you receive a prompt for a password, even if the password for the
user was not modified. "
Microsoft is aware of this issue and a fix is available. A a Knowledge base
article has been written and it will soon available publicly. To get a fix,
you can call PSS. You will not be charged for the fix.
To work around this problem, administer SQL Server from a workstation
that:
- Has the SQL Client Tools installed.
-and-
- Does not have the MS03-031 security patch installed.
Hope this helps.
