Nikhil,

The issue of Windows vs. Mixed Authentication is not the issue here. Rather, you have users who have been given permissions independent of the application role. Adding an application role does not automatically remove other permissions. If you want to restrict these users, you have to remove the permissions granted to the users independent of the permissions in the application role.
