    Let me start by saying that I don't believe Win98 can be used for setting up
    intergrated security in SQL 2000. I strongly recommend moving workstation to
    XP and have a them part of a domain, not a workgroup.
    I haven't set up a Win98 network for some years now and I really don't
    remember the settings. I know you have to add the "Log on to network
    domain". If a there is no server to validate the user, it means there is no
    primary domain controller machine. With NT4, the server has to be installed
    as a primary domain controller. With W2K, you can promote an already
    installed server to the domain controller role. KB 238369 has the steps how
    to promote a W2K server as the domain controller:
