    Thanks for your response Steve. What you described was what I
    conjectured as well. So I did a little test... I added a user, whom I
    knew belong to an existing NT group on the SQL Server, to the database.
    Unexpectedly, the user didn't show up as "via group membership". Am I
    not adding the user right? I've tried both sp_grantaccess as well as
    using the GUI. Cordelia ^_^
