Frankly, I don't know. It wouldn't hurt to check the MDAC install though.
You can get information about the MDAC component checker at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q307255. The
ComCheck tool will help you to diagnose installation issues with MDAC.
