We successfully installed SP3 on one Win2K Standard development server, but
install failed with an account authentication problem (both Windows
integrated and SA with password) on a second (semi-retired) development box
that was running SP1. We changed and verified the new SA password, which
didn't solve the problem. This appears to be the same problem Eric DeKuiper
encountered. Both development boxes are running VS .NET 1.0 SP 2.
Has anyone found a workaround for this problem?
We decided to try upgrading the second box to SP2 and apply the security
patch, which accepted the Windows credentials, but failed with Error running
script: sp2_server_uni.sql. Tried rebooting and rerunning setup again with
no luck. The SP2 install worked fine on an MSDE 2K instance running under
WinXP Pro SP1 without VS .NET installed.
Posts elsewhere indicate that a reboot solves the SP2 issue, said to be
related to MDAC installation. Has anyone seen this issue and have a fix?
Thanks in advance,
