I am a new SQL Server admin. When our Windows NT4 admin
recently changed my NT username to fit a new company
standard I went into my SQL2000 server to update logins
since I am using Windows authentication. I had no
problem deleting my old username, but went I went to add
my new username I got message "Error 15401: Windows NT
user or group 'domain\username' not found. Check the
name again". I found Article Q324321 on the Microsoft
Knowledge Base and am reasonably sure that none of those
problems exist. Have others encountered this problem
and, if so, do you have any suggestions for getting around
this problem? I did have our NT admin delete my new
username and then recreate it, and then I could add it to
SQL2000 but it was a big hassle reestablishing all my user
profile stuff. Other users that I've had this problem
with would not be happy to go through what I was willing
to go through to get more information about the problem.
