>From front end app I need to determine whether logon failure occured because
logon Name was invalid or because the Password was invalid however SQL
Server 2000 gives the same message in both cases:

Server: Msg 18456, Level 16, State 1
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user
'testuser'.

Is there anyway to discern bad logon name from bad password?

Thanks,
John
