I'm considering using a MSDE database for a desktop
database application. Actually is a new version of an
existing one, which has an access database. Because the
new database will have about 1 million records and the
need to query them in complex modes, an access database is
not a solution. I tested it with ADO and the response time
is too big.
I installed MSDE 1.0 because the application is supposed
to work in Win 95 too, but I can't find any way to secure
the content of the database. I can simply stop the MSDE
engine copy the mdf and ldf files to another MSDE engine
with the default user "sa" and I can access it at record
level. The old version with an mdb database used a
workgroup file.
Any help, suggestion and / or solution would be much
appreciated. Thank you...
