Rob,

In the future, please try to limit your posting to two or three relevant
newsgroups.

Microsoft does extensive beta testing before releasing a service pack, so
"generic" testing is very likely not going to accomplish anything useful.
Microsoft has already done, even before it releases a service pack for beta
testing, extensive internal testing. The reason Microsoft then does beta
releases of service packs is to try to test it against real life
applications.

So bottom line, IMHO, you can rest assured that "generic" testing has
already been done before Microsoft releases a service pack.

What you can not be sure of is that it will not break YOUR application.
While it is unlikely that a service pack will introduce a new bug to SQL
Server, the risk does exist. Similarly, it is possible that you may have
either knowingly or unknowingly taken advantage of a particular piece of
behavior that was in fact a bug, and that the service pack has now fixed.

What you really want to do is create a test plan for YOUR application that
you can run against SQL Server with the new service pack.

Please reply only to the newsgroups.
When posting, inclusion of SQL (CREATE TABLE ..., INSERT ..., etc.) which
can be cut and pasted into Query Analyzer is appreciated.
