Include in your sales contract legal restrictions on the buyers right to
reverse engineer your application and/or to provide your intellectual
property to anyone else.
It has been repeatedly proven that trying to protect intellectual property
solely by technological methods just doesn't work. Someone is always able to
figure out a work around for any technological approach. If you rely solely
upon technological solutions, without regard to the legal issues, then you
will get screwed. At least with a legal agreement in place, you have the
ability to resort to the courts for redress.
