I developed a small application to test the possibilty of
implementing security on a system via an application role.
After I added my test user to the db_denydatareader and
db_denydatawriter roles, he ran the application and
everything worked as expected!
When we then tried to implement the application role on a
real-live application, the test user was denied access to
the database when running the application.
The real application uses server-side cursors, and the
developers feel this is why the application role doesn't
work.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Dolores
