login error

i just installed msde from my office xp cd. i know see my sql server running
at bottom left corner of the screen. during the install i was never asked
what i wanted my password to be. i've tried my nt login and sa and no
password. i keep getting this error
Login failed for user 'sa'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server
 connection.
please help,
