Re: Firewall not loading on start

I had Zone Alarm before. I uninstalled it, rebooted, went to services and turned off vsmon, rebooted, edited the registry to
remove ZA & vsmon entries, ran Vourni's RegCleaner to get rid of the strays, rebooted, ....

I do agree that vsmon was a stinker for staying in processes after ZA removal. I just want to make sure that Windows
Firewall starts up when I turn on the computer, and that isn't happening.

BTW, do you know of another free firewall that would allow me to monitor outbound connections?

Thanks!

Xp Home. I've just started using Windows Firewall, after uninstalling a
3rd party firewall. I enabled the service and
started Windows Firewall. Rebooted. Checked theough security center --
it said no Firewall was enabled. I enabled it.

What am I doing wrong? I want the Firewall to start immediately, since I
am on cable. Also, there seems to be no
notification whether Windows Firewall is working or not. I'd like a task
bar icon. Is that possible?

Which firewall did you have before?
Some are very hard to totally remove.
