Re: Missing Administrator Icon In Welcome Screen

If Malke's suggestion doesn't help, try this:
Copy the following line by highlighting it and then pressing ctrl-c
net users >"%userprofile%\desktop\output.txt" & notepad "%userprofile%\desktop\output.txt"

Go to start->run (or if you are using windows vista windows key + r), and then press ctrl-v to paste the above line into the run box.

Press ok. A notepad window should open with the accounts on your computer. Please post back the results in the notepad window. You may wish to change any personally identifying usernames.

It sounds like you 1) have XP Pro; 2) were using the built-in Administrator account for your daily work; 3) have now created a second user account with administrative privileges. If this is correct, the built-in Administrator account is hidden by design when you create a second user account with administrative privileges.

If my assumption is correct, you can still log into the built-in Administrator account by doing Ctrl-Alt-Del at the Welcome Screen. This will get you the classic logon box. Enter "Administrator" for the user name (without the quotes of course) and your password.

If this is *not* your situation, then please post back with a better description of your system. You may wish to refer to this link to see what details to include in a newsgroup post in order to get focused help.
