Exactly. How could one determine that the URL didn't lead to a malicious or hacked site that contained such exploits ?
There is SiteAdvisor, the phishing filter in browsers, etc. that are supposed to warn one when surfing to such a site ... but what if it's a new site that the defensive tools don't know about yet ?

He is makeing a point. There are vulnerabilties in Adobe Flash and JavaScript is often used
in explotations.
