Re: Internet Security Problems, Need adivces.

I checked with TCP viewer, nothing established other than firefox. The only
thing I don't know is alg.exe(TCP), svchost.exe(UDP) and System(UDP), but not
listening nor established. In safe mode, I still don't know why my
connection is indicating that my computer is receiving something, but no
pop-up or anything, the bandwidth is like 2-4(received) Packets per second.
After many times of scanning from different software and view with TCP
viewer, and disabled all shared folders, the problem still exists, even I
disabled the auto-recovery from XP. The only thing I suspect is section in
add/remove program, there are many programs in the chart is not known to me,
but they cannot be remove or uninstall.
Control Panal ---> Add/remove program --> unknown programs are ...

BufferChm, CameraDrivers, CP_AtenaShokunin1Config, CP_CalenderTemplates1,
CP_Package_Basic1, CP_Package Variety1, CP_PackageVariety2,
CP_PackageVariety3, CP_Panorama1Config, CueTour,Destinations,
DeviceManagementQFolder, HpSdpAppCoreApp, InstantShareDevices, NewCopy,
PanoStandAlone, PC Suite, PhotoGallery, PSPrinters08, PSTAPlugin, QFolder,
RandMap, Readme, Scan, ScannerCopy, SkinsHP1, SolutionCenter, Status,
TrayAPP, Unload, WebFldrs XP, WebReg.

I don't remember I install any program above. It said they are all rarely
used in the "add/remove programs". YET there is no button to remove or
uninstall it. I thought parts of it are updates from microsoft, HP, or
maybe some of the programs I am using, but I don't think I know what is it by
reading the names above.

Question:
Is it normal that XP's "add/remove programs" doesn't let you to remove
programs in the list of it?
Is there any way I can trace the location of programs in the list of
"add/remove"?
If I really want to remove it, is there any shorter way other than go into
the regristry and delete it ? (assuming the "add/remove" doesn't have button
to remove it)

I don't want to format my computer, because I have so many programs I need,
and it takes very long time to recover it if I format it.

Thank you for your help, I am sorry for the trouble.

Thanks for the advices, I forgot to mention that I never turn on any
update
on any program even windows, but I did update window and other program
bi-weekly. It's because auto-update is annoying by poping up or
downloading
update without my permission when I am writing program or doing something
else. So the updates are always off.

Thanks Roger Abell, I will take time to read it.

No problem Rob. It is not so much a read, as the TcpView tool
you can download from there.

Thanks Panda_man, I was planning to use panda active scan, but there were
a
bug in the program when I trying to use it under internet explorer 7, but
now
I think they fixed, it is scanning my computer now. For Amer website,
it's
down now, I will check when their server back up. Thanks for the website.

I will take times to recheck everything again in the next few days,
hopefully I can solve the problems.

It is possible that you are just seeing a slow trickle of
background download of patches from Microsoft update.
When the automatic update client detects that there are new,
uninstalled patches, unless configured otherwise, it schedules

It could be Windows Update ... Have you tried disabling the Automatic
updates . Disable from Control Panel -> Automatic updates
