Re: Support for Windows 2003

I never said support for Win2K03 Gold /had/ ended, I only posited that it may have ended.

Best contact your TAM with any additional questions, Wayne.

Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Service Pack 6a, Windows NT Server 4.0 Service
Pack 6a, Windows 2000 Service Pack 2, and Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 have
reached the end of their support life cycles. It should be a priority for
customers who have these operating system versions to migrate to supported
versions to prevent potential exposure to vulnerabilities".

Does not appear that Windows 2003 has reached the end of it's support
lifecycle?

Yeah, but they're not new ones. Either they're ones you haven't installed
yet or they're for Office applications.

Interesting, because I am still getting security patches for Win2k3 Gold
???

If support for a given Windows version has ended (and it has for Win2K03
Gold as well as WinXP SP1, WinXP, WinME, Win98, and Win95), no new
patches
will be released for it.

From the Life Cycle page
"When a service pack is released, Microsoft will provide 12 months of
support for the previous service pack".
Since SP1 was released March 2005, I would have to assume that this
means
that support for pre-SP1 support would end March 2006.
The question is, when will the security patches for Windows Server 2003
no
longer be released for pre-SP1 Windows 2003.
Am I going to find on any given Tuesday that I cannot apply a security
patch
without SP1????

Good luck trying to figure out Windows Life Cycle!

See http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=3198 and
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifepolicy

But here's probably the best resource:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifesupsps

<QP>
Support ends either 12 months after the next service pack releases or
at
the end of the product's support lifecycle, whichever comes first.
</QP>

Win2K03 SP1 was released 30 Mar-05, so...

I can tell you that support for Office 2003 SP1 has already ended.
(Office
2003 SP2 was released 26 Sept-05.)

Could someone tell me when Windows Server 2003 in no longer supported

for
pre-SP1 Active Directory Windows 2003 Servers.
I'm looking for the official deadline, but I cannot find a diffinitive
answer. Thanks in advance,
