Re: DOS game crashes XP

I have to disagree. It is very easy in Windows XP to use Software
Restriction Policies to prevent unauthorized software from running on the
operating system. It is also easy to disable NTVDM which I imagine most
enterprises and savvy users do. On top of that many spyware/malware programs
will prevent what you suggest. The user also bears responsibility in what
they install on their computer. There are many poorly written 32 bit
applications that will also crash or impair the operating system. Besides
how to you know that app will crash all XP operating systems? Maybe there is
a problem with your's.

To me the fact that Windows XP can not reliably run every ten year old
DOS application is not a serious flaw.

You are totally wrong. It is a serious flaw because this game wolfenstain
makes windows xp crash (!)
What would happen if someone put it on autostart, then windows would crash
all the time !

To you it might be but I bet 99.99% of
users would not.

Well I am worried about this. so maybe I am one person out of 99.99 % or
what. But that couldn´t logically be the case.
Im sure there are millions of people worrying why a software made for
microsoft dos operating system is able to completely crash
a NEWER operating system. And WHY and WHAT is the reason for it to crash ?
