No, No Norton or Mc Afee products installed. Event logs will show

I can manually from services start the service and it will stay on
all day. When I reboot , have to do the same thing. It is set to
automatic but does not start automatic.

If you disable all startup items in msconfig, and then reboot, does it work
then? If so, one of your startup items is the culprit; try enabling them one
at a time, with a reboot between each. You can also disable all non-MS
services from autostarting, and do the same thing there, if the startup
items don't help.

Have Windows XP V5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600
I can go to Admin. Tools, Services, Security Center and it says
automatic and Logon Local System account and all dependencies seem
normally configured. I can start the service and it stays
functioning but when I reboot I have to do this every time. Seems
like Auto updates are on Firewall on and virus on and all
functioning. Just an annoyance to start on every boot.
AVG anti virus: no virus
Spybot: No immediate threats
Spywareblaster: up to date
Any way to get this to start automatically on boot?
Did the following:
C:\>cmd /k sc qc wscsvc
[SC] GetServiceConfig SUCCESS

SERVICE_NAME: wscsvc
TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
START_TYPE : 2 AUTO_START
ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL
BINARY_PATH_NAME : C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k
netsvcs LOAD_ORDER_GROUP :
TAG : 0
DISPLAY_NAME : Security Center
DEPENDENCIES : RpcSs
: winmgmt
SERVICE_START_NAME : LocalSystem
Thanks for any help with this annoyance.

What do you see in your event logs? Are you running any Norton/McAfee
products that might have their own 'security center' ?
