I agree 100 percent. In fact Windows Firewall is almost the only
host/personal firewall I will recommend for friends/family. The exception
would be in cases where the computer is used my multiple users and the
"owner" of the computer wants to restrict what internet applications can be
used by users on his computer. I don't believe that a personal/host firewall
should be a malware alert system for the average user as the false positives
will overwhelm the user and other methods should be used to keep the risk of
malware minimized.

Hi,
Question for you: Why do you feel that Windows Firewall is not good
enough?
Personally, I have been using Windows Firewall on all my laptcops and
computers and never had any problems...

Hi- I used to use Zone Alarm free (2 years or more) for my desktops- I
installed it on my new laptop a few months ago. On one of my desktops &
on
the Laptop, I suddenly began having problems with Yahoo messenger. After
doing some trouble shooting, I decided to unintall ZA on both pc's.
Keep in mind that right after uninstalling ZA, I enabled the windows
firewall that comes with sp2 on both pc's.
I was thinking of going back to ZA (thinking that it offers better
protection than windows FW)- my main concern is my LT since it is
wireless.
If I use a wireless signal other than my home, is my identity & more at
risk
without the better firewall?
What firewall (free perferably) do you recommend for a LT. I often
thought
that ZA was a bit hard to understand.
PS I did a system restore on the LT to fix the yahoo messenger.
On the desktop, I couldnt restore and still have some problems with
it.
So, dont know if ZA was the culprit or not.
thanks for your opinions.
