Re: Need shared access denied regardless of user permissions

There is no real way to do what you want to selectively allow access to shares
on the computer based on client computer used for access. Of course you can
manage share permissions to allow only authorized users/groups but you run the
risk of keyboard loggers, etc being used to capture a user's credentials or a
user forgetting to log off even just for a minute. I would strongly suggest that
you consider moving the data that the users need to another computer so that the
computer that has the sensitive data can be isolated from the untrusted
computers. If the data is that sensitive it would be well worth the extra

Hi,
I would like to deny a pair of computers access to certain shares on my
network. The issue is that the systems are located where non employees are
and certain shares contain sensitive data. I do not want to isolate the
computers totally because the employees that do use them need other data from
the system. I just don't want them to forget that there are other eyes
around and open sensitive data. I do want the users to be able to open that
data from other locations.

I tried an explicit deny of the computer name but that doesn't seem to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
