Event ID: 25+26 = Application popup: Machine CheckThank you both Patrick and Roger for your fast response.
Application popup:Machine Check:Regs.
are indicatig that there was hardware problem which usually
cause the system to shut down. Machine Checks are when the
hardware detects that it is in a condition that is not defined as a
possible healthy state, and can commonly happen from such as
an over heated processor.
Are you sure that when you shut it down you waited until it
was completely down ?? I am speculating that perhaps you
did not, that it went into a wait state and finally failed, and that
you have it configured to reboot on halts, which eventually it
did when the hardware check(s) happened.

When I went to turn on my pc this am at 7
it was already on.(Yes I had shut it down the night before)
I looked at the Event Logs which had started at 1:12 am
with Event ID: 6009 being
Microsoft(R) Windows(R)5.01.2600 ServicePack 2 Uniproccessor Free,
Event ID:6005 = event log service was started
Event ID: 25+26 = Application popup: Machine Check
Application popup:Machine Check:Regs.
and ended with
Event ID: 7035 + 7036 which showed several meaning for same ID
1.)Remote Access Connection Manager Service entered the running sate.
2.)The Network Location Awareness(NLA) Service was successfully sent a
start
control.
and entered a running state.
3.)Telephony service entered the running state.
4.)Windows Installer Service entered the stopped state.
What did it install ?
At 1:12 am when I'm sleeping, does this mean I have to
unplug the pc at night,am I being spied upon ?
I am on dial up with
Win XP Pro SP2
Thanks for any info...

I'll try my limited explanation,in hopes that it is enough.
Patrick,
I checked Add/Remove Programs, and nothing new was listed.
I also don't think it was in the middle of an update,I could be wrong
or I may have not waited long enough for it to properly shut down..
I have 2 lights in front of my pc,and
I have noticed that my red light goes out, indicating shutdown,
but the yellow light, was still on,and that is what may have happend.
Although why it does that is still a question.
All my security is up to date, and updated every morning.
There was one more program under the Event ID: 7036
which was "The Application Layer Gateway Service" which entered
the running state..My pc is a Gateway..
Roger,
the only problem that shows in the Event viewer is,
a DCOM error, for me trying to start a program in Safe Mode,
other then that I have no problems with my pc,and I am
pretty much clean...
So hmmm, that leaves me with the possible Automatic update
theory, for I am not fluent enough to know better,so unless
someone comes up with something else, I will again
thank you both for trying to help me...
I hope it isn't a major problem,which I"m sure I will notice,
but I had to ask about it for my own knowledge..
.
