While I do not know the answer to your particular query.. I know that you
should start thinking about changing that to a WSUS server (and who knows -
that might be the best answer to your query after all.)

While that statement may be the very reason for your "capitalization" of
"not wsus" in your OP, it would be better to start doing it now whether than
wait the 7 months and lose all support for SUS and still not be upgraded,
IMHO.

Sorry I do not know the answer to your query directly - but I do know you
would have known about these not-installed patches and which computers they
weren't installed upon just by running a report in WSUS - where you were
given little to no information in SUS.
