Just wanted to point out that your line breaks aren't that hot
either.....

I don't see what you mean with "line breaks"...
Compare the initial post and the first reply: it's one of Outlook Express'
oldest flaws that can be seen there, breaking cited lines once again.
I suspected this to be the reason for Roger's first misunderstanding.

If you're not going to do anything to actually help the OP,

Read <news:e#B8c0FUGHA.1444@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> again: I pointed to
MSKB 917077. And removed all no more referenced lines with the usual
[...summary goes here...]

Yes, you did point to an article on how to secure Windows without Third
Party software. The only problem with it is, unless the OP speaks
German, it's not going to be much use to her. Since translation sites
like babelfish don't do a very good job of translating.

However, telling the OP that her linebreaks suck wasn't an appropriate
thing. If you wanted to reference the fact that OE screws them up, you
should have pointed that out to her. As I mentioned in my reply, nearly
every post after yours consists of her thinking that she's doing
something wrong (aside from using OE, that is).

The first one who did NOT contribute to help was the @mvps.invalid.
Ask him why he did not choose to email his completely OT posting.
And ask him (and yourself too) why he choose an invalid address so
one can't "Reply to poster" by hitting the appropriate button/keys.

Out of curiousity, which one of his posts was OT? I'm going to guess it
was a reply to your post. It was probably a reply to your comment about
the linebreaks. Which means we ALL need to think before we type. But,
let's not debate whether you started it or he started it, or the OP
started it.

As for why I don't have a valid e-mail address in my reply-to, we've
gone over this before. Since most, if not all newsreaders open up a
window with the e-mail address visible (and able to be fixed to ensure a
successful delivery), I'm not too worried about the munged e-mail
address. Plus, aside from a very few occasions, the e-mail would be
better sent to the newsgroup.

then I would suggest keeping your fingers shut.

Shouldn't that read "keep your mouth shut"? Does this comply with your
countries constitution?

Normally it would be Keep your mouth shut. However, I felt it
appropriate to alter it to reflect the fact that you're probably typing
the words (not using speech-recognition software). As for my country's
constitution, there is an older saying then what was written on paper
and in blood. It says "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't
say anything." (Yes, I realize that I broke that code also with my
post.. For my transgression, I'm sorry.

[...]

P.S. Yes, my e-mail is munged and it's against RFC whatever and
whatever. But, since the spam harvesters are like you and want to see
perfectly good RFC compliant e-mail addresses, too bad. (And yes, I
know they can probably still harvest it from my variant. But, at least
they have to work on getting it-- albeit for a nanosecond).

Yes, ignorance is bliss. Since you do not provide a valid email address
I have to reply by news, not by email as would be appropriate.

fup2p since OT
Stefan

Yes, Ignorance is bliss. However, the last time I checked, you could
fix the e-mail address in Outlook Express. So, I would say that it
falls upon you, that you can't (or won't) take the time to remove the
obvious portion from my e-mail address. Especially since even Microsoft
recommends not using valid e-mail addresses in public newsgroups (ergo
the "discussions@xxxxxxxxxxxxx" e-mail addresses that so many people
have here.

And, curiously enough as I'm looking at the window here, the "Reply To:"
is actually my unmunged e-mail address. Whether that gets changed after
I hit send, I'm not sure.

But no worries... I'll apologize for jumping on you. I am sorry. All
I would ask in return, is that you post a clear message to the OP
stating that it's not something she's doing, but the fault of her
newsreader. That way, she won't worry about whether she's 'doing this
newsgroup thing right.'
