Microsoft Help staff asking for home address, phone, etc. by email

A general security vent...
I am an MCP (MCSD.NET). I recently tried to access my certification
credentials again after several years of being certified. I found that
the process requires Microsoft Passport login now, and that Microsoft
is requesting that I link my MCP to my Passport credentials. To do
this, I need a new "Access Code", which the MCP page instructs me to
get by emailing MCPHelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
When I did this, I got an email back from the MCPHelp folks asking me
for my Registration ID on my exam score report, and the following info:
Name:
Street Address:
City:
State or Province:
Country:
Postal Code:
Home Telephone Number:
Email Address:
< PREVIOUS >

Is Microsoft completely crazy to be asking for this information in
email? Besides the fact that they already have this information from my
certification records, this is a ridiculously insecure process. I
should just believe that any email coming in is from Microsoft and dump
my personal information out to them!
Shame on Microsoft for having such a process. The least you could do is
ask me to go to a passport secured site and enter the info.
