Ok.. The actual story is:
6 weeks ago, while our home pc worked perferctly fine, my husband opened an
email attachment on yahoo (which I think probably caused all the problem). He
said that all of a sudden, there were all kinds of windows popping up,
warning him virus spy etc. and giving him choices to download anti-spy
softwares. So he just followed the instructions (he's kinda guy that is good
with history but rubbish with technology stuff) and it just wouldn't work. I
(although working as IT admin, really know not much more than him) came home
being told of what had happened. So I switched on the computer, it
auto-connected to internet with flashing adverts (some are porn you know).
Tried to delete or heal the viruses that AVG Free found but no luck.
After a few days, I finally decided to re-install the system (luckily I do
file back-up quite often). Then the internet connection was configured and I
was back online. I didn't update to SP2 though. 5 minutes after I was online
(updating AVG during the 5 mins), it suddenly slowed down a lot. After
another 10 minutes, here came VIRUS again!!! (I don't really remember the
name of the virus, was some kind of Trojan Horses). My AVG alerted me. I
thought 'Oh NO!' then tried to disconnect but I couldn't. Eventually, I got
all scared and switched it off. The next time I switched it back on, went
online, the homepage was directed to a porn site. The Virus warning kept
coming.
So that's the whole story. The re-stallation part was repeated twice and I
got the same result. Now, the last time I re-installed the whole system, I
didn't config the internet so I'm offline at home. Luckily there is this
group of experts that I can seek for help from while I'm at work!
Thanks for all your suggestions & help... I will keep you guys up-dated!

Hi all experts,
My home computer (XP Home) caught Trojan Horse viruses a month ago, with spy
watching (so it says). Then I couldn't figure out how to delete the virus so
I formated C: and re-installed the system.
However, as soon as I installed broadband software and got connected to the
internet, these trojan viruses attacked me again!
I've tried re-install the system serveral times. Now I do not dare to go
online at all coz each time I felt I was bombed with virus & spy watch
immediately... :(
Please help me! Why is it and how to get rid of these spy & virus?
ps, i'm using AVG free edition and I would update the DB once i'm online!
Thanks in advance!
What does "these trojan viruses attacked me again!" really mean? Did
your anti-virus software tell you this or did you simply see a window
pop up on your screen telling your that you were infected? If you have
the firewall turned on and a legitimate AV program running then I
suspect that what you are seeing is simply a messenger window trying to
convince you to pay a company to "repair" your system. Try running a
full system can with AV software and see what turns up. But _first_
disable the messenger service -- you don't need it.
