Thanks guys. Point taken. You cannot run NIS and set XP firewall to be
on by default.

Hello ThorstenGailing .
What you have is very bad problem ,I think.
Yes ,you are very right ,when Norton IS is installed you can't have your
Windows Firewall ON permanently. That's why I always recommend people who do
want Norton to have only Norton Antivirus (never Norton Internet Security)
You want to use Windows Firewall ( very good :) ) so :
Either 1 or 2
1) Contact Symantec and ask them to change to Norton Antivirus 2006
Do insist on what you want.
2) Just leave Norton IS 2006 and use another security software.
May be 1 is the most appropriate .

This question has already been discussed, I am just after some
confirmation to eradicate any doubts.
I run XP (SP2), NIS 2006. I no longer want to run the NIS Firewall. Is
there any way to run NIS (exluding its firewall) and turn the Windows
firewall on by default? At the moment, I have to turn it on manually
every time I start the computer.I gather from previous posts that
running NIS means you cannot set the Windows firewall to be on by
default.
