I don't want to overcomplicate this, but should I also put the intermediate
PC on a different Ip address/subnet structure than the server or will this
eliminate the possibility to push the data from this server to the other PC

I would put an iternmediate PC in between. Let their software access the
platform and you either manually or through a script, push the data fromthe "real" server
to the intermediate PC.
