Are you talking about having a folder called "Common Files" open on your
desktop after starting Windows? If so, it is more usual for the folder
to be System32, but you could try these fixes:
This can be caused by a blank entry, such as can be left behind by an
incomplete program removal, in the:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and/or
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.
