I think this is because of the claims many people have made making IE/OE
sound like FF/TB is the panacea for security.

High profiles like that make for a big brag factor that pseudo malicious
teens covet more than sex with their neighbor's servants. It's the same
reason Kevin Mitnick's site was hacked twice and GRC was knocked off the
Internet.

You and I know the IDN problem was overblown. But so was IE/OE's
insecurity. A good way of looking at this is Roberta Bragg's statement
in MCPMAG.COM that "IE is not secure but securable". It just takes more
effort than most users can or are willing to do.

IE/OE's securities are commonplace so they get little press anymore.
FF/TB's problems is a bigger deal because it was supposed to be a
solution to IE/OE.

True, but until there is some checkable evidence, it falls into the
realm of Elvis sightings.

Personally, I feel somewhat safe putting SP2 and Eric Howe's
EnoughIsEnough on a computer. (I do use FF/TB myself)
