Patrick has given you good advice, but I'd change just this one teensy
thing: start cleaning up by scanning with TrendMicro's Sysclean in Safe
Mode. I don't recommend going to online virus scanners (if you can get
to one) because the malware will be active on line. Standard procedure
when cleaning viruses and malware is to disconnect the infected
computer from all networks and do the removal work in Safe Mode. This
means getting the tools and updates you need from a different,
known-clean computer with an Internet connection and a cd burner (or
have a usb thumbdrive with enough capacity to transfer the files).
Once you have done your initial scanning with Sysclean, your installed
full-featured av may work. If so, update it and do a thorough scan in
Safe Mode. OTOH, when NAV breaks it is almost impossible to fix. You
may need to uninstall/reinstall NAV, and you should refer to Symantec's
removal instructions first:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/index.html - Symantec tech support
There are instructions for running Sysclean and for general malware
removal here:
