I used Remote Desktop to install the patches and the reboot
apparently failed for me on a Windows 2003 server.

After applying the entire set of fixes, I waited until mid-night
and then told the Update to reboot. Both wuauclt.exe and svhost
    initiated reboots:

But neither worked, since I can't find any system log
entry stating the event log started up after this point.

The system may be stuck waiting to reboot. Remote
Desktop is apparently hosed as well, since I get
an immediate "remote desktop is disconnected" popup
whenever I try to get in and the services mmc run on
an XP workstation won't let me restart terminal services.

I am 2,000 mi away from the server, but I can try
a remote shutdown or something else that does not
require console access or physicalpresence to clear
this out. Any suggestions? I am a little leary
of my next step considering the problems with the
    last one I took.

    Thanks for any help,
