Titles such as these are fairly meaningless outside of the context of the
company in which they are bestowed. Engineer sounds like it should mean
more, but it may not. Same with Specialist, Analyst, etc etc etc. If I call
Skymall to order an Olde-Fashionede popcorn cart , I'm probably going to be
speaking to a Customer Services Specialist, or somesuch. And at one of my
old jobs, title changes were often handed out rather than raises. So,
there's no one good answer to your question.
