Spybot v1.4? See Help > Contents > Tools > Resident > Resident TeaTimer
You must be running Spybot in Mode > Advanced mode to have access to
Residents TeaTimer and SDHelper (Tools > Resident).
NB: Don't enable anything in Advanced mode if you're not absolutely certain
of what you're doing!

Nah, the updates are cumulative. You'd just need to run LiveUpdate manually
a few times to get caught up.

IMO anything's better than Norton/Symantec (or McAfee). Kaspersky, Trend
Micro, Avast, Panda are among those most-recommended/-mentioned in my
circles. I rely on AVG7 myself.
If you decide to uninstall NIS 2005 when your subscription's up, take my
advice and use SymNRT, too (and possibly a good cleaner like Crap Cleaner)
*before* installing anything new.
