Went through much the same thing with my grandfather, years ago. Not
"fun" by any means. Poor guy had finally gotten past the inflammatory
stage of rheumatoid arthritis, had moved to our town into a house the
folks bought, had a couple of "keep busy" driving jobs--was as happy as
I'd ever known him, ony to be laid low by a series of strokes. I think
the worst part may have been that he lived another 4 years in a nursing
home, alone, grandma having succumbed to a cancer not long after his
first stroke.

My folks will probably outlive me, but just in case, we're moving from a
mile and a half away to only a quarter-mile away from their house. And
the folks are investing heavily in an assisted living project that will
go up next year, across the street from where I live now.

Yeah, I was hoping not to see anything like that. Now hoping I can get
Alan to fully participate in the diagnosis.
