Firewalls come in dozens of flavors. A basic NAT router will give the
average home owner great protection at a reasonable price and served me well
at work and home for years. They were the first affordable devices. SPI is a
very misused term. I am sure that there are a lot of routers and firewalls
that say they are SPI that don't give the degree of protection that say
something like ISA 2004 does. Each user and administrators needs to assess
there tolerance for risk and then invest accordingly. --- Steve
