The problem is not with the permissions it is with the way Word and Excel
work with files.
It has been a while since I have seen this problem but, if memory serves...
when you create a new file in Word (or Excel) it actually creates a file
with the correct name (with nothing in it) and another file a temporary name
that Word uses for your (in progress) work.
When you save the file Word deletes the placeholder file and saves the
temporary file as the file name you want.
The problem is it can't as it can't delete the placeholder!
This is a know issue with these applications which make then incompatible
with the environment you are trying to create!
I am not aware of a work-around for this, but I'll do some hunting and see
if I can find anything.
