Is this the KL- Detector you downloaded?? It has a date of 7/10/2003 which
means it is an old program. Web Attack gives it a low rating and says it is
prone to false positives with normal PC activity! That means it is prone to
saying you have a keylogger when you do not!

It is normal to see the folders/files you list below to be modified. Log
files by design are supposed to be modified as they record activity. Ini
files are also often modified as is prefetch folder.
Microsoft Spyware and SpyBot Search and Destroy check for keyboard loggers
and Pest Patrol from Computer Associates is supposed to be excellent in that
regard but costs around $25.
If you are still having problems with McAfee try something different. Also
do NOT use XP's built in firewall if you also have a software firewall as
conflicts will arise and neither may end up working. Zone Alarm is an
excellent free for personal user firewall and AVG offers a free for personal
use antivirus program. There is no reason not to try something different if
you are continuing to have problems with McAfee. Do NOT install multiple
antivirus programs or a conflict may arise and neither may work. --- Steve
