I have been using various p2p softwares since long now, only for legitimate
needs. some times you catch hold of such files and old docs which is
occationally difficult to find easily otherwise. P2P helps in such cases.
Any ways, I updated my windows xp with some critical security updates and
service packs and thereafter all of the softwares stopped working. I tried
out a lot of stuff but no good. i thought that the installation was curropted
by the updates so i
1. reinstalled - waste of time
2. uninstalled and reinstalled - again waste of time
3. uninstalled, deleted related files which were left back and then
reinstalled again - again more wastage of valuable time.
4. uninstalled the security updates and then reinstalled - no use
5. i formated the entire drive on which XP is installed, reinstalled entire
XP alongwith service packs 1 & 2. NO USE. infact after this my antivirus and
firewall (Zone alarm) also stopped working.
6. now i have formatted the entire drive again and installed the origial
system again.... guess what.... IT STILL DOES NOT WORK.
after a lot of research and developement i did find out a reason. there is
this security setting in windows xp with the name TCP.... something, i dont
remember the entire name. This setting is to protect you against malicious
attacks and hijack attempts. Any program on your computer which makes more
than a prescribed number of unsuccessfull attempts to connect to ports on the
interet, its bandwidth is blocked and reduced to such a small amount that
almost neglegible amout of data transfer takes place. after so much more
wasting of time i am still not able to find the place from where the
parameteres of this setting can be changed.
Now i have only two questions???
1. where is this option which limits bandwidth???
2. when earlier, ie. before the unfortunate day when i updated my win XP,
how cum my portscanners were working and now they are not????
the reason why i am sure that this is why kazaa and warez dont work is
because when i install them for the first couple of hours they work
absolutely finebut there after they just dont work at all. which shows that
while the limit of unsuccessful attempts is not reached they work and once it
is reached they stop.
can someone pleeeeeaaaase help...
