    Did you try to delete it in safe mode while logged on as administrator as in
    "delete C:\Windows\System32\04egd.dll " ?? It sometimes helps to try and
    rename the file first as in "ren C:\Windows\System32\04egd.dll newfile.dll
    ". If using XP or Windows 2000 check that administrators group has full
    control to the file. Go to file properties/security and see if
    administrators has full control. If not give administrators full control. If
    you are denied that, go to advanced page/owner and change owner to
    administrators and then give administrators full control. The link below
    gives more info on XP file permissions in case you can not find security
    properties to the file. --- Steve
