Hi Moonraker
iMesh is a peer to peer file sharing network, it works by using local
software on a workstation create a bidirectional connection between the
iMesh servers and other workstations running the client software. There are
three main risks to this software:
1) The ready access to malware that is pretending to be wanted songs, films,
programs, for example if I wanted to distribute malware, I would just upload
it to iMesh and call it "Halo2Demo.exe" this would be a good way to trick a
lot of clients into running it!
2) The client includes spyware or adware itself, a number of these P2P
networks use these tricks to make money.
3) The client has a vulnerability. If the client software has weak security
it can be hacked and will provide a path directly to files on your hard
drive.
All in all these clients have a bad reputation for security.
